Really cool. What is the material (steel music wire?) and how did you assemble it?

It is 316 Stainless steel welding rod. I assembled it all by hand with some solder and flux designed for stainless steel (I got it from mcmaster.com, but really did not find it very suitable) and a soldering iron. Pretty much just free form, aside from the exterior dimensions. I'm going with copper clad welding rod and normal eutectic solder next time.

Oh. I suppose you could have TIG welded it, although it might have been hard or impossible to keep the rods from shortening too fast before you get it welded. I don't know the melting temperature of the solder and the curing temperature of the paint, but that'd be cool if you could get them powdercoated. I want to give this a try someday.
